JOB SUMMARY:

Work Location: On-Site [San Bernardino, CA] 

 

Application Development Manager manages application development, configuration, implementation, enhancement of the SAP ERP and Web applications.  Partners with the BRM teams, aligns with business partners and technology teams in delivering objectives.  Manages all facets of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for responsible area.   Aligns resources and develops plans to ensure timely completion of work.  Oversees the management of application health. Manage and mentor senior and junior developers to create/ follow standards and best practices.  Reviews and evaluates work and prepares performance reports of staff.  Communicates frequently and effectively with team members, business partners, and leadership.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Manages all activities of all Application development disciplines
  • Collaborates with BRM and technology teams to define project priorities, outcomes, and approaches
  • Manages project schedules and budgets; aligns resources, establishes responsibilities, and monitors critical path
  • Manages the agile and iterative planning, execution, and completion of deliverables
  • Advises team members on planning and estimating their time
  • Sets team member priorities and works to clear roadblocks
  • Reviews delivery effectiveness: prepares, evaluates, and recommends project course corrections when needed
  • Clearly articulates deliverables, release plans, work status, and issues to IT Leadership and business partners
  • Partners with technology peers to ensure awareness and synchronization of work efforts
  • Monitors the quality of deliverables; identifies changes required to ensure alignment with standards and best practices

JOB RESPONSIBILITES (CONT.):

  • Holds responsibility, authority, and accountability for development and system support of assigned business functions
  • Participates in the analysis and design of systems solutions
  • Leads the troubleshooting of operating problems and drives to root cause
  • Researches, evaluates, recommends and leads implementation of acceptable solutions for issues from a business perspective
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement with applications and processes
  • Defines and executes application roadmap strategies
  • Helps to develop department guidelines, procedures, standards, methodologies; ensures they are understood and followed
  • Provides input into budgets for staffing, hardware, software, training, and expenses, responsible for meeting budget goals
  • Identifies and addresses developmental needs of the team
  • Reviews team member performance results, provides coaching and feedback, and takes corrective action when necessary
  • Makes decisions on personnel actions including hiring, terminations, and promotions
  • Perform other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline required
  • 15+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting systems in production environment. Minimum of ten (10) years application software development required
  • 5+ years leading technical teams to accomplish business goals
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management, collaboration, negotiation, and project planning skills required
  • Advanced knowledge of system development principles and techniques covering design, development, and testing required
  • Experience with SAP SD/MM/FI and or IS-Retail required
  • Previous experience with a large-scale SAP implementation required
  • Experience with Web Application Development preferred
  • Retail industry experience preferred
  • Familiarity with agile development and management practices preferred
